What
is a MediaToy?
A
MediaToy is an interactive digital product which itself synthesizes
various kinds of rich media such as sound, graphics, 3D and dynamics
to interact with you in as many different forms of play as possible.
The
MeOMG MediaToy suite of products is leveraged by powerful technologies,
such as Java and MathEngine, and aims to bring the power of new
technologies together into an entertaining product that enables
the end user to play with what's possible. This first MediaToy Project
is designed to allow the average end user to build sophisticated
environments, build them for a purpose, play with their constructs,
share their constructs with friends, and explore the constructs
of others.
Project
01.01 - MediaToy SimulationEngine
This
is the Java layer on top of MathEngine, MathEngine Collision, and
Java3D which lets all of our components talk to each other. It presents
the developer with a component interface with strong event routing
concepts and a database for discovering components based on their
features. It is similar to other component interfaces such as Javabeans.

Project 01.03
- MediaToy GooglePlex

download
the
MediaToy GooglePlex
demo game now!
GooglePlex
is a marble/puzzle/maze game which, thanks to the WorldBuilder,
is what the players make of it. This is the first game we are building
that uses/incorporates the WorldBuilder and runs on the SimulationEngine.
The player avatar is a marble which rolls through environments exploring,
avoiding obstacles, solving puzzles and/or racing to the finish.
The play properties library of the Game will allow level builders
(using WorldBuilder) to designate their own play qualities and win
scenarios from a variety of options.

Project
01.04 - MediaToy SimulationBrowser
Runs
inside of Netscape or Internet Explorer from within the MediaToy
environment, and allows users to browse web pages hosting simulation
scripts. It's a plug-in for viewing our scene description format
that provides expanded online features
for play networking, communications, and to facilitate online browsing/previewing/downloading
of game level-source sites.
v1.0
for sometime after Siggraph '99 (possibly the Tokyo Games Show in
late September), dependant upon what we learn and how we do over
the coming summer months.
