Anselm Hook |
| |
|
The role:
Technical lead & administration.
The background:
Anselm has over fifteen years professional experience as a software
engineer, twelve of those in the video games industry. He has seven
published game products, highlights of which include Sword of
Sodan for Electronic Arts, Dragon Lair on CDROM for Readysoft,
and most recently Vigilance for Segasoft.
His comments:
I believe it's very important to have mountain biking on Mars.

Glenn
Gear |
| |
|
The role:
Artist. Glenn
is responsible for defining and executing the look of the game world
and all publicity materials associated with it. He is also refining
the image of the Open Media Group, and the look and feel of our
web site design.
The background:
Glenn Gear has a MFA in Sculpture and has worked as an artist's
assistant for the past three years. He has developed a number of
web sites and has done freelance graphic design in his spare time.
He used to work in an animation studio where he coloured animation
cells by hand...the old fashioned way.
On-line Portfolio:

His comments:
When I was small, my sister and I would spend hours dropping wax
crayons into our electric heater. We watched in complete awe as
the colours melted on the heat sinks, merged into one another, and
slowly dripped to the floor. While this may seem wasteful to some
and somewhat of a fire hazard to others, it remains as my first
lesson in colour theory and the value of "interactive" design.

Jingyu
Liang |
| |
|
The role:
3D Modeller
The background:
Jingyu Liang has a B. Arch. degree and had been practiced as
an architect both in China and in Canada. His finished projects
are varied from large scale urban planning to tiny pieces of furniture.
Comparing with budget limitation of real world construction, computers
provide unlimited materials, easy and safe way to build. So it answered
why he is here. He devotes himself to virtual 3D world creating
light and shadow just like he used steel, glass and concrete before.
His comments:
Less is more.

Lorna
Moroz |
| |
|
The role:
Game design, production management & creative direction. This
includes design research, and group and project documentation including
conceptual tools and marketing materials (call it "writing"
<g>). Lorna is also our webmistress.
The background:
Lorna has a BFA Honours in Theatre Design & Production, experience
in web design, and spent two years wearing many hats (game design,
head writer, production management, creative direction) for a development
house startup in Calgary, Alberta.
Her comments:
A designer surrounded at all times by a large number of programmers,
physicists and mathematicians is a challenging position to be in.
I qualify myself as an addicted reader, most notably of science
fiction. It's the ideas and extrapolations of those ideas that make
the genre better than any other, though I do still make forays elsewhere.
In other personal foibles I also collect LEGO, but to play with,
not to treasure "the complete set". (The Star Wars sets
are amazing!!) Loving construction toys means I'm really looking
forward to playing with our own game.
I have a personal
site, but I'm not going to tell you where it is until I've updated
the poor, horribly neglected piece of web-lint.
